Job Fit Analysis

What is MOTIVATIONAL FIT?

While it is common for organizations to focus on whether a candidate can do a particular job, many organizations ignore whether a candidate wants to do the job.

Job dissatisfaction is the primary cause of employee turnover. Many organizations neglect to gauge candidate's motivational fit for the job and the organization - whether the candidates WILL DO the job.

Motivational Fit is the WILL DO cluster of dimensions used to determine whether there is a sufficient match between what a person likes and what is available in the job and organization to keep him or her satisfied (motivated).

Development Dimensions International's (DDI) Motivational Fit System (MFS) is a software package that enhances your selection system by helping you determine whether candidates will find a specific job satisfying and your organization's culture desirable.

The MFS will help your organization:

  • Hire candidates who have a good fit with the job and the organization.
  • Reduce turnover and improve productivity and morale.

There are 3 Subdimensions within Motivational Fit: JOB FIT, ORGANIZATIONAL FIT and LOCATION FIT. Trabaho.com will process the JOB FIT subdimension of MOTIVATIONAL FIT.

What is JOB FIT ANALYSIS?

Job Fit is the extent to which activities and responsibilities available in the job are consistent with the activities and responsibilities that result in personal satisfaction.

The purpose of analyzing job characteristics and comparing them with the likes and dislikes of job candidates is to uncover areas of match and areas of discrepancy between the candidate and the target job and the organization. Areas of Match indicate aspects in the job that will be motivating to the candidate. Areas of Discrepancy indicate demotivating aspects.

What are the tools used in JOB FIT ANALYSIS?

The MFS software provides tools to obtain and analyze information about job characteristics and candidate likes and dislikes.

1. Job Fit Analysis Questionnaire (JFAQ)
This questionnaire helps your organization's content experts rate the presence and prevalence of the 26 job fit facets in the target job. The software can then generate a JOB PROFILE.

2. The Ideal Job Inventory (IJI)
This 100-item questionnaire given to candidates helps you determine what characteristics they would find appealing and unappealing in an ideal job. The software then generates a CANDIDATE PROFILE.

3. Candidate/Job Comparison
In addition to generating independent profiles based on survey data, Job Fit Analysis of the MFS also provides candidate comparison reports. These reports look at the "gap" between what the job offers and the kinds of things a candidate is looking for in a job.

How can my company benefit from Job Fit Analysis?

Job Fit Analysis of the MFS will help your organization by:

1. Providing a flexible, automated way to analyze the motivational aspects of target jobs, capture candidate's preferences, and uncover whether there is a good match between what a candidate wants in a job and what the job provides.

2. Helping in the reduction of absenteeism and turnover.

3. Increasing employee satisfaction and morale through more thorough attempts to match employee preferences to the nature of a job.
